Add allergen information
You confirm allergen information for each dish yourself. That same published information can appear on your public menu and on staff allergen sheets. Suggestions from import stay unchecked until you confirm. Menii helps you record information your team has checked and confirmed; it does not certify that a dish is safe for someone with an allergy. Staff allergen sheets use only published menus and menu items. Draft changes are not included. After publishing changes, download or print an updated sheet so your team has the latest information.
Where to find it
Open a menu, edit a dish, and use the allergen section. For staff sheets: Admin → Print → Allergen sheet.
How to do it
- Open a dish. In Admin, open the menu and choose the dish you want to update.
- Set the UK allergens. Tick every allergen from the 14 allergens covered by UK food information rules that the dish contains, or choose None of these if none of the 14 listed allergens need to be declared. Then save the dish.
- Check dishes with missing allergen information. If anything is still unset, finish those before you publish menu changes or download the staff allergen sheet. Menii will prevent you from publishing and will block the sheet download until included dishes are set.
- Publish, then print. Publish the menu when you are ready. If allergen information changed, open Admin → Print → Allergen sheet, download or print an updated sheet, and replace the kitchen copies so your team has the latest information.
Things to know
- Your venue is responsible for checking ingredients, managing cross-contamination risks and keeping allergen information up to date. Menii helps you record that information; it does not replace these checks.
- Menii does not track whether every printed copy in the venue was replaced.
- Do not describe Menii as compliant, certified, allergen-safe, or allergen-free.
Common questions
Can Menii show allergens to guests and give staff a sheet?
Yes. You confirm allergen information on each dish. Guests see it on the public menu after you publish. Staff allergen sheets use only published menus and menu items — draft changes are not included. After publishing changes, download or print an updated sheet so your team has the latest information.
Do I have to set allergens before I publish?
If you changed menu content, yes — every included dish must be set before that change can be published. Your previous published menu stays up until then.
What about AI or import suggestions?
Suggestions can appear, but they stay unset until a person confirms. Menii will not publish allergen information from a suggestion alone.
Does “None of these” mean the dish is safe for someone with an allergy?
No. Choose this only after checking the recipe and ingredient labels and confirming that none of the 14 listed allergens need to be declared for that dish. It does not mean the dish is allergen-free. Cross-contamination and allergies to other ingredients still need to be considered. Guests with allergies should speak to staff before ordering.
Are dietary labels the same as allergens?
No. Dietary labels do not replace allergen information. For example, a vegan label does not guarantee that a dish is safe for someone with a milk or egg allergy.
